Insurance company assessment fees

Annual assessment fee for insurers

All insurance companies operating in Alberta are required to pay an annual assessment to the Alberta Insurance Council, as outlined in the Insurance Act and the Insurance Agents and Adjusters Regulation (A.R. 122/2001).

The fee is $750 and is due on July 1 each year. Fees that remain unpaid after 30 days are subject to a late penalty that is 50% of the unpaid amount. AIC generates and sends invoices to insurance companies for this assessment fee in early June.
